Here’s some info on the types of hard-drives:

  • SATA drives are faster than the traditional standard drives. With the low prices of this type of storage, more people are looking to it for space to store music or photo files.

  • PATA drives were the traditional standard drive for more than a decade. They were designed to be inexpensive and commercially common technology.

  • Solid-state drives (SSD) are based on FLASH memory, like a USB thumb drive. Their primary advantage is their lack of moving parts, making them more resistant to impact shock and mechanical failure than standard hard drives.

Our technicians first make sure there is no power to the machine. Then they remove the cover to gain access to inner compartments. Once we locate the Hard Drive, we remove the screws and cables connecting it to the frame. We then determine the type of drive and order a new compatible one. Once installed, we restore the connections along with all software functions.
